I had this problem after installing 3.2.  The 3.1.2 test install was
using LDAP with no problems and I checked all settings were the same in
3.2 but to no avail.

I deleted the LDAP authentication and created a new one using the same
settings and everything worked. (I cut from the old and pasted into the
new so it wasn't a setting change).

This may not be a viable option as it will loose user setting and
permissions, but might get you working again.
