Ok,

Not sure what the upgrade did but...

...after learning that a clean install would allow me to create a LDAP 
Authentication realm to my Active Directory server I tried to remove and 
re-create the realm. That didn't work unless I deleted the realm and 
re-started the service. Then I was able to create a new Auth realm to my 
AD. Fortunately we did not have more than a few users registered yet.
