Ryan,
the 5.0.8 version of the MySQL JDBC driver is the solution! Thank you.
(Maybe this should be stated in the migration guide in the help, just to
help everybody else...)

Mladen,
Another customer was having the exact same problem on MySQL. They were using
the MySQL 5.1.5 JDBC driver which appears to have some bugs in it. They
switched to the 5.0.8 driver and things worked correctly. Can you switch the
driver jar file in the server's lib/ext directory and restart the server.
This should fix the issues.
