Well , its more of a discussion than an actual question. First let me
explain the context and I hope I'll be clear enough J
Since our department have double in resources and projects, a dedicated
support team was created and a need for a centralized/standardized build
system solution is needed.
One of our requirement was to create a clear division between the build
system management and the build system display(I will call that
dashboard). Our old build system was something like the current Anthill
Pro , what I mean by that is that all type of user interacted with the
system either it's a developer/qa/build system admin using the same
access point/interface with security.
The developer still had access to the whole build process which most of
the time 80% of it is irrelevant to them (the only thing that matters is
build and test log ++) and every projects had their own build system
and managing them. For 3 weeks I have started evaluating Anthill Pro
and build a working prototype and trying to cover most of our
requirements using it so far, I'm very pleased with the product J
But still, we would really like to create that division between the
management and the view that contain only the usefull information
(dashboard) .
So far as a solution, I thought about creating and asp.net website
connecting to the SOAP to fetch project and workflow and then hook
directly to the Database to display only information that really
matters to developer. Problem that come with that solution is that I
need to duplicate log and artifact on a share as I don't want developers
to access anthill pro website at all.
Am I the first user to have that kind of requirement while using Anthill
Pro and what approach they used ?
Is this something the team is aware ?
Is this something that might be looked into future development of the
product ?
Am I on the right track while using Anthill Pro or is there something
I'm missing ?
Thank you
