[Anthill] cvs log problems

The reason why I asked is that I wouldn't have expected a crash even if
the timezone was messed up. Maybe different/wrong results but certainly
not a crash.
Thanks for confirming the obvious - it tends to bite me when I look for
the complex solution.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for your reply!
Yes, there was the same version of CVS on both machines, we've also
tried updating the version to the latest.
Something tells me that this is a silly TimeZone / Locale problem as
Maciej predicted, but I also feel that this is a problem with my OS
settings.
If I do a <date> command, I get
$ date
Thursday April 15 09:31:12 IST 2004
On the machine that's working, and
anthill at elvira$ date
Thu Apr 15 09:36:17 Eire 2004
On the machine that's not.
I think this is due to the TZ environment variable being set to Eire on
both machines.
Thanks anyways,
Oisin

Have you checked the version of cvs?
Just asking the obvious questions...

Hi Maciej,
Thanks for your help, exactly, the cvs log command will just hang.
I've run the cvs log command with a -t (to enable trace) but there's not
much more output, just a couple of lines giving the cvs root and saying
that its connecting to it.
I'll check with another AIX machine and let you know if it too has
trouble with the translation.
Thanks again for your help,
Regards,
Oisin

Oisin,
Do you mean that the cvs log command hangs when run on AIX?
The timezone issue is probably related to the cvs client for AIX.
Internally, cvs uses GMT dates when communicating between the client and
server: it is the cvs client that performs the translation between the
local timezone and GMT and back again. It seems that the AIX cvs client
does not perform this translation.
Searching the archives is probably possible via gmane. You can access
this mailing list via Gmane at
