Say -- I just had this problem again last night and it drove me nuts for a
couple hours.

I changed my password, so it broke the build process. I logged into the
Windows box, re-logged in using WinCvs 1.3, then copied the .cvspass from my
account to the "tomcat" account which runs the Tomcat4 Service.

Manually I could check stuff in/out with WinCVS...so the login worked. But
AHP would die, debug logs had an error mesg -- "login with real password".

So I looked again at the .cvspass files...and noticed that the encrypted
password had not changed (yes, I do remember the encrypted pass because last
week I a similar login problem -- I had uninstalled/re-installed the Tomcat4
Service, and had forgotten to change the service user from the System
account to the "tomcat" account.)

So I went back into WinCVS 1.3 and tried login/out a dozen times, and none
of the .cvspass file(s) on the system changed. I speculate that perhaps
WinCVS 1.3 uses the Windows Registry instead of .cvspass. I downgraded to
WinCVS 1.2 and that seemed to modify the .cvspass file normally -- for what
it's worth. ;-)
