You are invited to the WebSphere User Group Meeting. Our next meeting
will be held on Thursday, May 18th. We will be featuring three
outstanding presenters, Joe Walters, Rick Simmons and Joe Parks. See
below for details.

 

Meeting time: 10:30 am to 2:00pm
Meeting location: IBM Rockside Road Offices - 6100 Oak Tree Blvd., Suite
500, Independence, Ohio 44131

Meeting start time will be 10:30am and last until 2:30pm. Lunch will be

Meeting location will be as usual at the, IBM Rockside Road Offices -
6100 Oak Tree Blvd., Suite 500, Independence.


This Meeting Features 3 presentations.

Presentation 1 is on WebSphere Dynamic Caching (Dynacache) and will be
presented by Joe Walters, Senior Consultant.

. 
Joe has excellent experience in e-business architecture and design. His
main area of expertise is in J2EE, but he is developing fluency in the
Microsoft languages as well. He has experience working with both web and
console applications in both Java and C++. His experience working on
many different types of projects has allowed him to develop excellent
communication skills, as well as the ability to accurately identify
client needs. On most projects, he takes on the responsibilities of an
architect, planning out complex ecommerce systems and overseeing their
implementation.

Joe's presentation on WebSphere Dynamic Caching or dynacache takes an
in-depth look into dynamic content caching on the server side via WAS.
Dynacache has been known to increase overall J2EE application
performance by up to 400%. Joe will cover the following in detail.

*	Cache Concepts

		*	The Cachespec.xml file
		*	Servlet caching
		*	Fragment caching
		*	Building Cache keys
		*	Creating Dependencies
		*	Using the cachemonitor tool

*	Implementing Invalidation

		*	via Command based
		*	via Dynacache API

*	Caching in WebSphere Commerce

		*	Covering Command context
		*	DC parameters
		*	CACHEIVL table and triggers

*	Operating in Production

		*	Covering Edge server caching
		*	Replication in a cluster
		*	Disk offload

Presentation 2, Agile Agile: Product Development with Scrum will be
presented by Rick Simmons. 

 

Rick is the founder of one of North Eastern Ohio's Premier WebSphere
Consulting Companies. He currently works in Boston as the Software
Engineering Manager for Constant Contact (www.constantcontact.com
<https://mail.brulant.com/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.constantc
ontact.com> ), the leading application for e-mail marketing for small
business. His roles include driving adoption of agile approaches in the
organization, starting with the development of the company's new
product, releasing in Q4 of 2006.

Rick's presentation, Agile Agile: Product Development with Scrum
describes the motivating factors and potential benefits, and describes
the Scrum process in detail, using an actual, live project as an
example.


Presentation 3 is on Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) with IBM
Tools and will be presented by Joe Parks.

 

Joe is a Manager for Brulant, Inc (www.brulant.com

om> ). He has significant experience in the e-business industry and in
applications development, at the senior architect level. His experience
has allowed him to develop valuable business process design, application
design, development, and conversion skills. Joe has worked as a business
process consultant, functional expert, application designer, and project
manager during his tenure in the business consultant environment. Joe
also has experience with modeling and reengineering business processes
in the areas of manufacturing, order entry, inventory management, and
distribution.

His presentation on Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) with IBM
