[Clev-jug] Cleveland Java Users Group Meeting Summary (2/13)

Hi All,

Below is a summary of the recent Cleveland JUG meeting, thanks to Adam 
Dutko for volunteering to take notes.  Please feel free to send/add your 
comments.

*Logistics*

    * Meetings will continue to be held on 2nd Wednesday of the month,
      5:30 (pizza, drinks), meeting 6:00-8:00PM.
    * Google Group will be the default collaboration tool:
      http://groups.google.com/group/cleveland-java-users-group (the
      Yahoo! Group will be discontinued).  Please register on the Google
      group, account required.
    * The website will continue to be active, domain will be transfered.
    * A wiki will be created.
    * Job Postings welcome, but listed on separate page.
    * Group will research option to record or podcast meetings.
    * Group will research wireless Internet connection for meeting
      demos, downloads, etc.
    * Sponsorship opportunities are available for pizza, drinks, etc.
      (includes time to address the group).

*Meeting Content
*

    * Recommendation was made to include interactive presentations
          o Might require pre-work
    * Meeting structure may include open discussions, news updates, old
      business.
    * Sub-groups may be formed to address certain topics:
          o Java Certification
          o Java Beginners
          o Bounty Projects (group to develop apps for outside entities)
    * Cross-pollination with other groups welcome (DB Users Group, Linux
      Users Group, etc.)
    * Best practices or lessons learned discussions
    * Tools and frameworks for successful projects
    * Additional topics for upcoming meetings (other topic
      recommendations being excepted):
          o MySQL, LAMP, JBoss and other Open Source Projects
          o RIA
          o Java Game Development
          o OSGi and JSR Alternatives
          o GWT
          o UI Design

*Other Items
*

    * OpenSolaris group formed, consider joining
      (http://opensolaris.org/os/project/cle-osug)
